Before you begin to use the lighting board, make sure it is set to its standard “normal” setting. All faders should be set to their lowest positions. How to turn on the Console 1. Make sure the console is plugged into a power outlet. 2. Make sure the DMX cable is plugged in. The male end of the cable should be plugged into the DMX out port on the console. The female end of the cable should be plugged into a DMX input outlet on the wall. There are DMX outlets in both the studio and master control, so one can use the console in either room. 3. Press the MODE button. Various lights will flash on the console as it powers on. Make sure that the display shows “Full Control” as the selected mode. If it does not, use the wheel on the console to select that mode. Overview of the Console There are 24 numbered faders on the Smartfade ETC 1296 Control Console. Each fader allows you to control up to 4 different channels, for a total of 96 channels at a time.
