Filipinos in America, Misidentity Mental Health, a short documentary that follows the perspectives of twelve Filipinos as they answer the questions of whether they have ever been misidentified and if mental health is talked about in their households. Although the stories of how their families came to America differ from person to person, the responses they share show the evident similarities in the struggles they face of being Filipino in America. From being mis-recognized as other ethnicities to not being able to share their concerns and raw emotions with their family, the underlying theme of invisibility is apparent. Produced by Emily Cristobal.

Nonya’s Taste of Life, programming from the Link TV network. Nyonya’s Taste of Life" depicts stories of Indonesian domestic helpers and Thai workers who came to Taiwan dreaming of a better life. Just like "Nyonya Cuisine," which has a complex flavor -- sour, spicy, and sweet -- the film is filled with misunderstandings, conflicts, and reconciliation (or un-reconciliation) among Chinese, Indonesians, and Thais. Note: Daughters from intermarriages between Chinese and Malays are called "nyonyas." They are known for skillfully combining the food materials commonly used in Chinese cooking (tofu, mushrooms, etc.), spices unique to Malaysia (pandan leaf, belacan, etc.), and South Asian condiments (curry, shrimp paste, etc.) into Nyonya Cuisine. Produced by Wen Chih-yi.

LOCAL ANNIHILATION, a short documentary by DigBoston Editor-in-Chief Chris Faraone. An alternative weekly that fills coverage gaps typically served by community newspapers in addition to the investigative, longform, arts, and music coverage that alts are well known for, DigBoston has a unique and pretty damn outrageous decades-running history. Local Annihilation isn’t about that turbulence though; rather, this short highlights our most challenging year to date, this past one, in an attempt to reflect on the extraordinary efforts taken to keep one small but driven ship afloat. Produced by DigBoston Editor-in-Chief Chris Faraone.
