Peace Be Unto You

On Monday, January 18, Americans will gather across the country to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by participating in virtual events and socially-distanced service projects.

If you have an event planned for the MLK Day of Service, we strongly encourage you to register the event on the AmeriCorps Agency's site here.

Also, as you may have heard, the AmeriCorps Agency is collaborating with the Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC) to expand participation in service in honor of King Day and throughout the year.

Below you will find next steps to set up your Day of Service event with PIC if you have not already done so. With just 6 days until the National Day of Service, we encourage you to complete the following next steps and post your event on Mobilize as soon as possible today or tomorrow.

If you have any questions on the steps below, don't hesitate to reach out to serve@bideninaugural.org. For other questions about the King Day of Service, please email MLKDay@cns.gov.

Next Steps (from the AmeriCorps Agency)

Fill out the Host form: If you haven’t yet, please complete the form so we can gather important information about your organization.
Review the Host Toolkit: Our Host Toolkit includes all helpful information for event hosts. Access our Host Toolkit here.
Create your event on Mobilize America: Use the directions in ourHost Toolkit to post your event on Mobilize. Once you post your event you can start recruiting volunteers. Volunteers will be able to find your event on the Mobilize dashboard, which will feature all National Day of Service events:

Review our Health & Safety Guidelines: If you are planning to host an in-person event, please review our Health & Safety Guidance in the Host Toolkit to ensure all events follow the Presidential Inaugural Committee's guidelines as well as the most up-to-date CDC and local health and safety guidance.
If needed, submit a request for face masks: Our highest priority is ensuring the health and safety of all participants on National Day of Service. If you do not already have masks for your in-person event, PIC is able to provide polypropylene face masks upon request. If your organization is in need of face masks, please fill out this Face Mask Request Form with as many details as possible and someone from our team will follow up with you. Face masks should be requested at least 5 days prior to the event, and the last day to request masks is Thursday, Jan. 14. Request face masks today.
