Governor Baker’s statewide eviction moratorium is set to expire on Oct 17, 2020, which could put many at risk for eviction. Cambridge Mayor Sumbul Siddiqui teamed up with Jessica Drew of Cambridge/Somerville Legal Services, Maria Melo and Lynne Tyree of the Cambridge Multi-Service Center, and Maura Pensak, Housing Liaison to the City Manager, to convene a “Housing Rights & Resources” forum for Cambridge residents, renters and property owners alike. This 40-minute pre-recorded session reviews key aspects of the eviction moratorium, speaks to some common questions and housing-related challenges faced by residents during the pandemic, provides information on where and how to access the variety of resources available through the City of Cambridge, and guidance on what we as a community can do to prepare and prevent evictions as October 17th approaches. Please note, a list of resources and contact information is posted on screen at the end of this forum; the video recording and accompanying resources may also be found on the Mayor’s website, as well as on Facebook and Twitter (@MayorSiddiqui).
