An interview with a new proprietor in Inman Square

spoke with Michelle to find out how her new store operated

As we say goodbye to the practice space and welcome The Sugar House; change is happening here in Inman Square in Cambridge. I interviewed the owner Michelle. She was eager to fill me in about the workings of her store. The first thing she shared was that she had a second store in Maynard MA. I questioned her to tell me what a typical day was like. Making the store look presentable (which it always does) and filling in where merchandise had been sold seemed to be her priorities. On a daily basis; Michelle wears many hats. Many things go into being an owner and a manager. Some, but not all is reordering, merchandising, marketing, and bookkeeping are but a few thongs she must do to keep her store running smoothly. Her most difficult problems are that being new to the Inman Square area; She is waiting for her store to be discovered. Another portion of her responsibilities are to do with decision making. She decides what her design choices will be |Because of the newness of her establishment the slowness is much more than wanted. however; weekends and nights are when business picks up. The ceramics you see all around the store are all made by Michelle. The store is clean and merchandised extremely well. Michelle hopes to become part of the Inman Square creative community. The Sugar House sells many items that would make some places in your environment look beautiful. Michelle has an employee here named Rory. You can see her most nights; being helpful.
