This video is a self-portrait depicting my various identities from which I approach filmmaking and how it impacts my art. It’s a piece that shows the contrast between what I present outwardly versus how I feel inside. I use fancy photoshoots and lightning to contrast shots I took in my home in the environment I am in the most and the most comfortable in. I included my family to show a part of my identity I treasure heavily, being biracial and having a Native American mom and white dad. I show the contrast I experience during the holidays with me and my mom being the only Native Americans with the rest of my family there being white. For me, these identities sometimes feel at conflict with one another but with this piece, I combined them to show how they all contribute to my art equally and how I see filmmaking as a way to express myself completely.
