At A Turbulent Time Like Ours, God Still Remains In Control

At A Turbulent Time Like Ours, God Still Remains In Control

Be encouraged that God is a merciful, kind and compassionate God: and that He understands your struggles at this turbulent time.

William Cowper: 1731-1800 was an English man: song writer, and a christian who set out one morning to commit suicide by drowning in River Thames. Born by godly parents. His father was a minister of God. He had a lot of trials and hardship in his life. Very often, at such times, our faith in God falters and grows dim. It was snowing heavily when he left. He thought he was going to River Thames, not knowing he was just circling around his home in the snow. He ended back right at the door of his home. It dawned on him it was the great hand of God's grace and compassion that delivered him from killing himself. That was what led to the song being composed as a poem: “Light shining out of darkness.” This experience is the background of this powerful Christian hymn:

“God Moves In A mysterious Way, His Wonders to perform.”

1. God moves in a mysterious way
His wonders to perform;
He plants His footsteps in the sea
And rides upon the storm.
2. Deep in unfathomable mines
Of never failing skill
He treasures up His bright designs
And works His sov’reign will.
3. Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take;
The clouds ye so much dread
Are big with mercy and shall break
In blessings on your head.
4. Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,
But trust Him for His grace;
Behind a frowning providence
He hides a smiling face.
5. His purposes will ripen fast,
Unfolding every hour;
The bud may have a bitter taste,
But sweet will be the flow’r.
6. Blind unbelief is sure to err
And scan His work in vain;
God is His own interpreter,
And He will make it plain.

At a turbulent time like what we are witnessing in America and the world:

• Threats of Nuclear World War
• Healthcare crises, a great sensitive issue for the poor
• Immigration crises
• Economy and inequality causing homeless crises, drug addictions, etc.
• Suicidal death crises
• Lack of gun control causing mass shooting

1 “God is still in control no matter what.”

God understands our struggles; whose mercy is everlasting; who is so compassionate and kind. King David reminded us:

“Should God mark iniquity, who among us will stand before Him.”

“The eyes of God run to and fro beholding the wickedness of men,” ‘yet He does not reward us according to our wickedness and sin.’ He does not delight in the death of the wicked, but stretches His compassionate hands to save the sinner. Come to Him, even if you are so loaded with sin. He will forgive.

2 What are your struggles today?

I don’t know what your struggles are in these uncertain times. It can fall in the above- named crises ravaging our nation and the world. Whatever they are: you are dying, and you need a miracle because you don't want to die; you have lost a child or loved one in gun violence, you don’t have a job or you are homeless; whatever assails you, don't be afraid. Remember: Psalm 46: 1-7

1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
3Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.
4There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.
6 The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.
7 The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
Psalm 46 King James Version (KJV)

3 What does God want you to do at these turbulent times?

• Don't be afraid like the Psalmist said. Put your whole faith and trust in the Lord, not on people. He will never fail you. People will fail you: friends, family members, your money and fame, your riches and opulence, your political savvy, intellectual acumen, etc. Everything material is transient.
The Scriptures:

“Woe is the man or the woman who puts his trust in man, who makes arm his strength. But blessed is the man or woman whose faith and trust is in the Lord.”
God will never fail you. His word stands forever.

• Stay away from evil and wickedness:

The word of God says:

“God heareth no sinners, but those who do His will.”

When you obey the Lord and trust Him: not living in wickedness and sin, when you call upon Him in times of trouble, He says He will hear you. Stop committing sin: lying, stealing, adultery, fornication, child abusers, cheating, killing others, financial greed, hate, etc. God wants you to come to Him, so He can deliver you from sin, and give you the Holy Spirit to live a new life. That was why he died for you on the cross.
4 Listen and obey:

Listen to God speak to you; listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit in you; listen to your conscience. The times are evil, uncertain, turbulent and dangerous. The coming of Jesus is lighting up. You want to spend eternity with Jesus when it is all over in this life, and the material acquisition is gone. The Scripture says:

“And what is in this life? The lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life. These things shall pass away, but that doeth the will of God abideth forever.”

You also want to enjoy your life in peace hear on earth, no matter what is going on in our world or around you: God gives you peace, healing, and assurance He will divinely protect you in the midst of these chaos all over the world. He will forgive, heal, and restore peace to America and the world.

Only believe”
