Redemption of humanity from sin came into existence at the birth of Jesus. Without it, humans remain in sin, wickedness, and no peace.

Humanity has a choice to live above sin and wickedness, live daily in their lives doing good works of faith, and finally inherit eternal life when it is over in this life: or live in fear and hopelessness. Why? It is because of the birth of Jesus. As we celebrate Christmas, let us not forget the crucial significance of it. The turbulence, fear, hate, chaos, suicide, shooting, wars, oppressive regimes dominating our world, is the rejection of the story of Christmas: the birth of Jesus Christ the Savior of humans from sin and wickedness.

Sin, wickedness, has remained a problem for humans right at the fall of Adam & Eve. God will choose the descendants of Abraham to rectify the situation. But Israel will fail and not live up to her calling. She will go into exile. Jesus came down to deliver humanity from sin. Without salvation or redemption, humans waste their time on earth. The greatest event in human life is salvation-the birth of Jesus Christ to deliver humanity from sin.

1 Significance of Christmas:

The Scripture records this when Jesus was born by Mary:

“And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call His name Jesus, for He shall save His people from their sins.” Mathew 1:21
An angel announces the birth of Jesus:

Already in the old testament, the prediction of the birth of Jesus has been for centuries by the prophet Isaiah:

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, The prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace, there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it and to establish it with judgement and with justice from hence forth even forever.”

Before this prediction, they were many who were waiting for the birth of the Savior Jesus Christ. Then Jesus was born, the world rejoiced, some earthly kings were afraid. But joy for the birth of Jesus superseded those earthly rulers who were envious of the birth. There was joy all over the world because Jesus was born to deliver humanity from sin: black, white, red, yellow, Jews, and Gentiles. The song writer captures the significance of this moment like this:

The whole world will rejoice, why?

• Sin destroys and have grave consequences:

Jesus was born to give us victory over sin in our lives. On that cross of Calvary, He exchanged our weakness-inability to overcome sin, took our weakness, exchanged it for His righteousness. Then gave us power to overcome sin. Sin denies humans peace, and causes fear in our lives. The Scripture says:

"There is No peace for the wicked. They are like the troubled sea which cast up mire and dirt."

Sin will mess you up-secret or openly. How many powerful men and women sin has destroyed: politicians, ministers, corporate leaders, bankers, doctors, lawyers, ordinary people, etc. You can be anything: famous, intellectually gifted, whatever exalts your ego, sin can destroy you. And humans have no power to over sin in their lives. The struggle over sin is deep. You know you are doing wrong and you have no power to stop what you are doing. This was the main reason Jesus came, who is God to deliver humanity from sin.

If you accept this story of the birth of Jesus, and the story of what He did on the cross, you are delivered from sin. The Scripture says:

“As many as receive him, to them gave He power to become the children of God, even to them that believe on His name.”

When you believe, you will have power –the Holy Spirit the Third person of the Trinity comes into your life and gives you power to overcome sin in your life. It does not matter what sin assails your life, you will have deliverance, or what sin you have committed, you will be forgiven if you will only believe.

2 Significance of Christmas: You live daily in your life for the glory of God:
Living for the glory of God:

• When you understand the significance of Christmas, you live your life daily in hope, trusting God and have confidence in Him. The other way round is you live your life trusting in your own confidence and arrogance, which will eventually result in fear. When life’s struggles occur, you become hopeless and your confidence evaporates. The one who knows the Lord Jesus Christ and has faith in Him draws from the riches of God’s grace, trusts His word to pull him or her from struggles of life which will come: whether you are rich or poor.

• You also live your life for the glory of God. When you understand the significance of Christmas, you know you are born for a purpose. Your desire becomes to glorify God in your lie: you want to make your community and world a better place for the glory of God, not just living for yourself and family. You understand God gave you talents, money, gifts to help and enrich your world and for others.

• You are humble and not arrogant because what you have does not belong to you, but God. He gave it to you for a purpose to honor Him, and you will give an account for all that He lavished on you. God also can take away those things any moment He chooses to for He is in control of everything in life, not humans.

3 Significance of Christmas: eternal life:

When we don’t understand the significance of Christmas: that it is to exist this life to another better place, we must have wasted our lives on earth, regardless of our riches, opulence, fame and fortune status, intellectual capability, etc. That other place is called eternal life where we shall live with Jesus forever. Then this sinful world of ours will be destroyed.

The Scripture says:

“And what is in this world? The lusts of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life. These things shall pass away, but whoever does the will of God shall remain forever.”

4 Significance of Christmas embodies God’s deep love for humanity:

The Scripture says:

“For God so loved the world that He gave is only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life."

God deeply loves humanity. Who can love us like God? When we have failed, He understands and lifts us up; when we have deeply sinned, he forgives, heals and restores us. When we cry and people forsake us, He comes to our rescuer: even parents, best friends will forsake us in our hours of desperate need,
God’ s faithfulness, grace and deep compassion delivers us.

Who will love us like God?

A song writer captures it a little bit of God's love for humanity:

Rejection of Christmas story will deny you the rapture: when in all nations of the world, those who accepted Jesus as Savior, black, white, Jews, Gentiles or will be caught up with Jesus in the air; to live with Him forever. The dead in Christ shall rise with those living. We then shall all live with Jesus forever. Then this world will be destroyed. The Scripture says:

“if in this life only we have hope, we are of all men miserable.”

“We shall be changed, we shall be changed. In a moment, in a twinkle of an eye at the last trump, for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.” 1 Cor. 15:51-57

This is the rapture of believes caught up with Jesus in the air.

• Rejection of the story of Christmas will have great consequences someday. Even here on earth, those who reject the story of Christmas will never enjoy peace on earth, because the Scriptures says: “There is no peace for the wicked. They are like the troubled sea which cast out mire and dirt.” There is no peace for the wicked who live in sin. Some say I don't lie or cheat. The Scripture says: "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. There is no one good. Our righteousness is like filthy rags before God." You must accept the righteousness of God by faith to be delivered from sin.

• Those who hold righteousness in unrighteousness: who pretend they are Christians, but use it to deceive and plot evil. The Scripture says: “By their fruits, ye shall know them.”

• Those who love materialism: All they live for is money, sex, arrogance, power and self-will. They exalt themselves like God and create problems all over the world. They scorn eternal life and God’s redemption. They will regret their life style unless they humble themselves and give God the glory.

• Those who say there is no God: they reject God’s redemption, God’s love and everything about salvation. It will not matter what you think of the significance of Christmas someday: at the end of your life, which sometimes comes suddenly, you either end your life in hell or heaven. It is irrelevant who you are or not.
I pray that we choose to live with Jesus and understand the significance of Christmas: not only to party and drink, but the most significant thing in human life that will determine our final destiny on earth.

I wish you God’s blessing in this Christmas today: a wonderful new year of favor, peace, and God granting the desires of your heart in this coming year. May you include the knowledge of Jesus Christ in your life in this coming new year. That is wisdom.

Poem on Wisdom:

Wisdom is so relevant in life
Wisdom allows us to listen to God’s word
Wisdom allows us to have the knowledge of Jesus as Savior
The greatest achievement in life
When our material bubbles are gone; and we are gone
Wisdom guides us to do what is just and right
So we can have peace in life
Lack of wisdom is foolishness and stupidity
That is what has kept our world in chaos and turbulence
It is lack of wisdom
Inability to listen to God and His word
Sin and disobedience dominate our world today
Causing chaos and confusion in America and world
