As was with the younger players in the minor leagues, the Major Little Leaguers (ages ten to twelve) squared off to decide the winners of the Mayors cup here at the home of the North Division Comeau field. The home team Cubs were the first team to play. They were challenged by the Central division Champs. The North jumped out to a quick 3-1 advantage after one inning of play. The second inning proved to be a frame that saw many runs scored. After the smoke cleared North had a stranglehold 8-4 on the Central team. The third inning was scoreless. In the fourth inning, the central plated two runs to pull much closer to the cubs. Now with two innings left, the had tightened up to North 8 and Central 6. Going into the last inning, we saw north add three more insurance runs and they held Central scoreless in their last at bat. The North were to play in the final game for the Mayors Cup trophiy. The 2nd semi-final game saw the West Dodgers, perennial champs facing off against the East Marlins. After two innings the West held a 1-0 lead. Then without warning, The West exploded for five runs in the third inning, Not satisfied with a six run lead they picked up three runs in the fourth inning and five more in the fifth to shut up the East.
So the stage was set for a winner take all game. The Dodgers from the west against the North Cubs. The West dodgers scored first and led 4 to 0. after three innings of play. The Dodgers pitching was superb as the North managed only managed three hits to this point of play. The Cubs kept scratching and clawing held the dodgers scoreless in their half of the fourth inning
