Cambridge, MA's Homelessness/Poverty Housing Development and Construction Overlooked in Past/Ongoing Budget Formulations and Appropriation!

Peace be Upon You,

I’m Hasson Rashid, I reside at 820 Massachusetts Avenue. My pubic comment is about CMA#8,9.12, and CRs#1(http://cambridgema.iqm2.com/Citizens/SplitView.aspx?Mode=Video&MeetingID...).

I find in researching into the state of homelessness and poverty housing, development and construction for various reasons are constantly being overlooked or circumvented, for what I’m referring to here. When one looks at CMA#8 and how for years the city has been receiving this type of federal funding for years, and other federal resources for years too. It has been federally mandated for cities and other communities to explore homeless and poverty housing initiatives. Unfortunately as of yet or until this very day, nothing has been done or is being manifested here in Cambridge, MA, concerning the development and construction of homeless and poverty housing.

Last week I spoke here and questioned how the Cambridge Chaplain Advisory team is being or has been utilized. It seems to me when it comes to sensitive and intimate police community affairs, the first to be called into and upon for service should be the police advisory team of chaplains. Why then is $40,000 from the police fund necessary to support outside civilian advocacy.

As for the city boards and commissions adequately reflecting the demographic make up of the community, I spoke briefly here last week about this. There is living proof that the appointment to those positions are not reflecting the true make up of the population. Proof starts with the homeless walking around and sleeping in the streets around here. Moving up the ladder on this to those trap here in poverty, as an addition to what I’m referring to here.

Finally, discriminatory practices and trends are very much alive, and doing well here in Cambridge,MA

Hasson Rashid,
