MY CONTRIBUTION TO CAMBRIDGE'S CITY HALL PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD ( http://cambridgema.iqm2.com/Citizens/SplitView.aspx?Mode=Video&MeetingID...) FOR 3/26/18 IS AS FOLLOWS:

Peace Progress, and Prosperity Be Unto You

Hello everybody, I’m Hasson Rashid, I reside at 820 Massachusetts Avenue here in Cambridge, MA. My public comment is on Policy Orders # 2,3.6.

1.For sometime now I have been on official municipal record, endorsing that city owned property such as the Foundry Building be converted into homeless housing. Homeless housing should be designated first for all of Cambridge’s vacant properties. For years now Cambridge has been in violation of Fair Housing and Civil rights laws unenforced about this. I’m certain that the Cambridge Continuum of Care (CoC) would support my assertions. The city was facing an affordable housing crisis at the time it ignored or went to sleep on, the Foundry Building, Sullivan Court House, and the Volpe Center’s vacant properties, and their opportunities and potentials for SRO, Coop, homeless, poverty, and affordable housing, etc.

I recommend that after all of your research is in place, that you turn all vacant city owned properties that you locate over to the Cambridge Continuum of Care (CoC) for conversion into what have you, SRO, Coop, homeless, poverty, and affordable housing, etc.

2.There should be a halt on any future appointments by the City Manager to appoint an appropriate city representative to work with the Historical Commission, the Veterans Services Department, representatives of the Cambridge African American Heritage Trail, Cambridge Historian Jon Hill, etc., and any other appropriate parties., until the progress that is being made, is made public on the 2017 Community Preservation Act winning funded project “Historical and African American Trails Markers, etc. , that was awarded approximately $30,000. I call for the progress of this matter to be made know to the public, before the city manager venture out to make any appointments mentioned in POR #3. The 2017 CPA Funded project “Historical and African American Trails Markers, etc., encompasses everything related to the subject, and much more than that being proposed in POR#3. Thank you.
