Hasson Rashid's Response to Rep. Connolly’s Real Estate Transfer Fee Bill

Elected Official Should be Working Towards Ending, Eradicating, and Preventing Homelessness as their Number One Priority!

Peace,Security, and Sanity Be Unto You All.

I’m Hasson Rashid and for sometime now I have been engaged in advocacy for homelessness rights. I find it sort of disheartening that recently elected Rep. Connolly find it more inviting to circumvent homelessness priorities, in favor of status quo anxieties, rather than prioritizing housing for those without income or extremely low income, such as the homeless, and those at risk of becoming homeless.

I feel that any type of transfer tax on real estate should be funneled into a “Homeless Trust Fund,” such as I have proposed at City Council and the “Human Service and Veterans Committee," instead of going into any other housing fund that will bypass and outright ignore homeless housing needs.

Any right minded and well intention elected official should be working towards ending, eradicating, and preventing homelessness as their number one priority. To ignore addressing this issue in favor of harnessing status quo anxieties is discriminatory as far as federal, state, and local policies are concerned. Connolly’s proposed transfer tax on real estate, and any of the others that support this, won’t help homeless peoples in moving into staple housing. He and his supporters first should be working to addressing homelessness as their foremost priority, instead of trying to please the status qou.

Yours In Peace,Sanity, and Security,
Mr. Hasson J. Rashid
