City of Cambridge,MA is Now Changing its Tune by Supporting the State’s Bill for the Right of First Refusal?

Last Monday's Cambridge City Council's Policy Order and Resolution List Agenda Item # 6!

Peace, Sanity, and Security Be Unto You,

In regards to Policy Order and Resolution List Item # 6 (Support of Representative Provost and the Cambridge Legislative Delegation’s efforts to pass a Right of First Refusal), on last week’s City Council Agenda (10/23/17), I find my self reflecting back on the Putnam Square Apartments, when the City of Cambridge’s policy makers supported the Commonwealth of Massachusetts appointment of developer Homeowners Rehab, Inc. (HRI), falling under the 40T statue to purchase the Putnam Square Apartments. This sale then circumvented the right of residents ownership through forming a Resident Ownership Corporation, etc. HRI was allowed to run away with low income peoples monies by Act of the 40 T statue. What are the reason(s) the City is now changing its tune by supporting the state’s Bill for the Right of First refusal?

It still saddens me very much to witness how they the residents of 2 Mt. Auburn were sold out by the 2 Mt. Auburn Street Tenants Association, City Council, Commonwealth of Massachusetts, HRI, Harvard University, and a host of others. There are residents of the Putnam Square Apt. today that still remain disappointed at those involved in this sale. I spoke out at several of the related public hearings in favor of the residents ownership option but to no avail, the status quo was determine and set on the sale to HRI.

What has me perplexed is how all of a sudden those at the state level and city level are now favoring rights for residents tenants ownership, through this Right of First Refusal Bill. Former Congressional Rep. Barney Frank warned about this. There is something nebulous about this, and I advise the residents and citizens, to keep a close watch on this bill, municipal policy makers, and related outcomes.

Please take a moment to look at my March 25, 2013 CCTV article in regards to this matter at:
