Peace and Sanity Be Unto You:
Hello everybody, I’m Hasson Rashid and I reside at 820 Massachusetts Avenue. My public comment today relates to Calendar I#1 and #3, and any other agenda item that directly or indirectly relates to homelessness.

I think the city’s declared and proposed intention to purchase eight acre at the Episcopal Divinity School Institution (EDSI), this I feel is a waste of public tax payers funding, as long as these proposed things that begins in item #1 with construction of critically needed affordable housing units, etc., can be achieve on land and facilities, already own by the city, such as that of the Foundry Building (FB). For sometime now, as you all know, I have been advocating for the FB and the use of its land to be converted into below market rate housing for the homeless. As of this moment nothing is being done with the FB, it doesn’t make good economic sense to invest in purchasing the eight acre at the EDSI, when the same proposed thing can be accomplished at the FB for a considerable amount of public funding, that is less than that of the cost to purchase and convert the eight acre at the EDSI.
This proposed course of action to purchase at the EDSI eight acre of its land and facilities, is another prescription for disaster that the city is intending to pursue and employ, public funding from the city treasury, because complications will more than likely, and bound to arise with historic preservation entities, and other community forces, and elements that are in support of preservation, and other things applying to the traditional preservation of the character of the neighborhoods, etc., affected by this proposed purchase with public funding. In conclusion, you all are producing a backlash. http://cambridgema.iqm2.com/Citizens/SplitView.aspx?Mode=Video&MeetingID...
