Without The Resurrection Of Jesus Christ, There Is No Christian Faith

Without The Resurrection Of Jesus Christ, There Is No Christian Faith

Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead makes the Christian faith real and authentic.

Few years back, I was walking close to my home in Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge, Massachusetts, I stumbled and fell down. I got up, tried to limp back home, but by the time I got home, I could not walk anymore. I cried out to God for healing. It was the eve of Easter Sunday. I reminded the Lord what He said in His word. I was too young to be crippled. I still have a lot of things to do for the glory of His name.

"Therefore we are buried with him in the baptism of death, that as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the father, even so we should walk in newness of life."

That power that raised Jesus from the dead- the resurrection power enables the believer to live the supernatural life of the Christian faith. As a believer, I had and still have that power by His grace, not by my power or might. So I challenged the Lord to heal me. The following day was Easter Sunday: white, black, Gentile or Jew all over the world will celebrate Easter Sunday. I prayed all night challenging the Lord on His word to heal me.

When it was morning, I walked proving the resurrection of Jesus real and authentic. I refused to be crippled for life by the devil - the enemy of God and His people. The Lord came to my rescue because I believed in His resurrection power. When I went to the church that morning, the first person I told the testimony thought I was delusive. This is because many professing Christians do not believe in the resurrection power of Jesus Christ, or they are not taught the word of God.

Paul captures the relevancy of the Christian faith when he said:

“If there is no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen, then is our preaching in vain, and your faith is also in vain. And if Christ be not raised, your faith is in vain, ye are yet in your sins. If in this life only, we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.” 1 Cor. 15:13-19

The resurrection of Jesus Christ gives authenticity to the Christian faith. Jesus remains the only figure in history who died and rose from the dead. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is a revolutionary event in human history. It is what sets humanity free from sin; it is what gives humanity daily victory over Satan to live above struggles of life and achieve their destinies and goals; it is what will finally usher humanity into heaven to live forever with Jesus in that glorious kingdom awaiting those who believe, despite "critics" of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

1 The uniqueness of the Christian faith:

There is nothing that compares to the Christian faith. The resurrection of Jesus Christ distinguishes the Christian faith from other religions of the world. No religious leader, ranging from Mohamed, the founder of Islam, to Buddah, Hindu and others, ever died and rose again. The ability of Jesus to predict His own death and resurrection Mathew 16:21; old Testament prophets predicted His birth and death; and eventually, all of these predictions came to pass makes the Christian faith unique. The third day, Jesus rose from the dead and destroyed the grave; destroyed death, and conquered it and set humanity free from sin: it is the greatest story ever told by humanity.

It is the greatest reality in life. Look at the Christian believer suffering persecution down the ages. They are able to forgive their tormentors; in Russia, communist nations where the faith is despised and other nations that reject the faith. But other religions will kill and destroy those of other faith who antagonize or disagree with them. The Christian faith says:

“Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which spitefully use you, and persecute you.” Matthew 5:44

Only the resurrection power can enable the believer to do that, and no other religion.

2 Transformed life from the resurrection:

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is victory over sin. It is the power which enables the believer to live and defeat sin in his or her life. The resurrection power is the ability to live a new life in Jesus Christ bought by the redemption of Jesus Christ – a life of victory over sin and evil. Romans 6:4 says:

“Therefore, we are buried with Him in baptism into death , that as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we should walk in newness of life.”

The power that raised Jesus from the dead enables the believer to live a new life of righteousness over sin. “But as many as believe in Him to them gave He power to become the children of God., even to them that believe on His name. John 1:12 That power is the resurrection power of Jesus that enables believers to live the supernatural life of the Christian faith. The resurrection power was the secret of the disciples victory, and also transformed the timid disciples as they witnessed their Savior’s resurrection from the dead. Acts 4: 33 says:

“And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus and great grace was upon them all.”

3 The resurrection power in our personal lives as believers:

Many believers all over the world: black, white, Gentile, Jew, or other nationalities of the world have been transformed by the resurrection power of Jesus Christ. Paul the great apostle was formerly a radical Pharisee who greatly persecuted the Christian Church. God captured him and transformed his life. He became the one God will use to bring the gospel to the Gentile world. I will testify of the great change the resurrection power has done in my life and daily changing me; another believer will testify the same. People who killed, murdered, lied and cheated, abused others, committed adultery, fornication, practiced witchcraft and underworld activities, etc., have been set free by the resurrection power of Jesus Christ. Every genuine believer has a testimony of how he or she was set free from sin. Every human being is born with sinful nature; deceitful heart and evil way until they repent and know Jesus as Savior. It is only through the resurrection power of Jesus Christ they are changed from a life of sin to righteousness.

4 The power of the resurrection gives eternal life when the bubbles of life are over:

The scriptures says:

“Behold I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed. In a moment, in a twinkle of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible must have put on incorruptible, and this mortal must have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Cor. 15:51-57

The power of the resurrection of Jesus Christ will usher the believer into another world where there is no pain or struggle someday, and we shall reign with Christ in that glorious kingdom that awaits the believer. Paul reminded us:

"if our hope is only in this life, we are of most people miserable."

This is because the bubbles of life will fade and pass away. There is nothing really in this life. The Scriptures asks:

"What is in this life: the lust of the eyes, the the lust of the flesh and the pride of life. These things shall pass away, bur he that doeth the will of God shall abide forever.” 1 John 2:16&17

Those who do the will of God are only enabled by the power of the resurrection of Jesus ability that raised Him from the dead. It is not human power or ability; it is sorely God’s grace brought from the resurrection power that enables the believer to have daily victory over sin, and awaits the resurrection of Jesus at the final coming of the Lord.

A song writer quotes the Scripture:

“We shall be changed
We shall be changed
We shall be changed
We shall be changed
In a twinkle of an eye”

The believer struggling take courage, very soon, we shall be be changed and live in that glorious kingdom with Jesus where they would be no more pain. The one who has not repented from sin and still don’t believe the resurrection power to deliver from him or her from sin, God is still reaching out His loving hands waiting for you to repent. Do it quickly, it might be too late for you.

The Scripture says:

“When you hear the word of God, do not harden your heart.”

Have a wonderful Easter. May you be richly blessed this Easter in a unique way. May the Lord heal and favor you with His resurrection power.
