Moving Image Portraits

Moving Image Portraits

Learn about the moving image as biography, while working on your very own video portrait production.

Thursday, November 12, 2015 - 6:00pm to 9:00pm

In this course, students will explore the history of the moving image as biography, and learn how to utilize video to create a representation of someone else. Each student will work independently or collaboratively on a project throughout the course. Stylistic devices, interview techniques, and structural strategies will be demonstrated and discussed. The student will have to actively engage with the person whose portrait they are “painting”. Final student projects can range stylistically from more traditional approaches to abstract experimental pieces. This class requires students to take out a production contract and turn in a short video for cablecast at the end of the class.
