Storytelling with Comics

Storytelling with Comics

Explore the structure and vocabulary of comics while creating one of your very own in your prefered style - no drawing ability required!

Wednesday, September 23, 2015 - 6:00pm to 9:00pm

Comics aren’t just cartoon superheroes and villains – they are a language all their own in the world of storytelling, combining words and pictures in a way no other medium can. In this course, we will explore the structure and vocabulary of comics, unlocking their potential to tell stories both simple and complex, funny or serious. We will look at different styles of storytelling with comics: Hand-drawn, digitally-drawn, photomontage, mixed media, and more. Each student will work on a project of their own using their preferred style. No cartooning or drawing ability required! Students are required to work on and complete a short project while in class - this project may be part of a CCTV exhibition in the Karen Aqua Gallery. Instructor: Jon Dorn
