FREE for all Cambridge Residents! FREE for all CCTV Members!

On Sunday, September 7, CCTV will host a free Mini-Class Extravaganza from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The educational evening will be filled with fun classes that are free for all Cambridge residents and CCTV members. This is an opportunity you don't want to miss!

Participants will be able to sign up for the event and take any two of the following classes: Social Media Strategy Basics, Prepping Your Pictures for the Web, Sources for Non-Copyrighted Material, and Pandora: Making Your Own Radio Station. Each class is an hour long and will be offered twice.

“This evening is a chance to introduce the public to the kinds of opportunities we have available,” said Allison Maria Rodriguez, CCTV’s Community Media Training Coordinator. “Our ultimate goal is to provide the public and our members with the tools they need to create meaningful media as diverse as the communities in which they live.”

Advanced registration is required for the Mini-Class Extravaganza and is accepted on a first-come basis. Interested individuals should call 617-661-6900 or stop by CCTV’s studios, 438 Massachusetts Avenue in Central Square, to enroll.

CCTV offers an extensive media-training program with courses ranging from beginning to advanced, from video production to computer programming. The Mini-Class Extravaganza provides just a sampling of the types of classes offered. For a list of the latest courses, visit cctvcambridge.org/learn. Wondering how to leverage your social media presences to build awareness for a creative project or nonprofit. This crash course will introduce you to the different roles each social media engine plays and how to incorporate it into your outreach, no matter what you are trying to publicize.

Prepping Your Pictures for the Web
Sunday, September 7, 6 to 7 p.m. & 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Sources for Non-Copyrighted Material

There are often times when we just don’t have direct access to the footage we need for a project. Fortunately, there are plenty of people willing to share the footage they’ve captured. This class will demonstrate several places that share material that is up for grabs, as well as a few low-cost sources for “royalty-free” material.

Pandora – Making Your Own Radio Station
Sunday, September 7, 6 to 7 p.m. & 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Always wondered about Pandora Radio but never learned how to use it? In this mini session we will go over how to set up an account, how to create and customize your own streaming stations, find pre-existing stations, and learn all the ins and outs of Pandora. Not only is it a great way to listen to some of your favorite music, but it's a great way to find new music you'll love too!
