Learn how others have translated short stories to the screen - if you need help with your own process or are just curious.
While reading stories we already picture characters, settings, and actions in our heads. But can films live up to our wild imaginations? In this class we will read short stories and then view their film adaptations. Through short readings, film viewings, and discussion, we will describe similarities and differences between elements of the book and the movie, further allowing us to study film adaptation to better understand literature (and vice versa). Though we will not be making films in this class, there may be time to discuss how to adapt stories – our own or others – into storyboards and film. Instructor: Morgan Jaffe
