Silver Maple Forest Protest

Join us on 6/28 at 10:00 am at the Alewife T-stop to help stop the Silver Maple Forest from being cut down to build condos!

Saturday, June 28, 2014 - 10:00am

The Silver Maple Forest Protest will take place on 6/28 at the Alewife T-stop.
The Silver Maple Forest is a core, floodplain forest in Cambridge, Arlington
and Belmont is home to wildlife native species including red fox, river otter, red tail
hawks, migrating warblers herons and mink. This forest is in dire risk
of being cut down by the end of the summer, putting all these
populations at risk and destroying the enormous economic and climate
adaptation value of the forest as a protective floodplain and rich in
habitat. It is a vital “urban wild” and one of the largest in the Boston area,
and the area is utilized by many urban residents. Anyone concerned about
mitigating climate change should be extremely concerned about losing what little forest
remains in Middlesex county!
