From June 28, 2013 – August 8, 2013 the Karen Aqua Gallery at CCTV will host a photography exhibition of work created by the CCTV Media Training Program’s DSLR Photography Class, taught in May 2013 by Jordan Tynes. Artists include Ann Cowan, Rock Louis, Gabriel Robinson, Lele Sang, and Alan Verly. The public is invited to a reception and artist talk on Tuesday, July 9th from 5:30PM – 7:00PM.

When asked to comment on his students, their work and process, Tynes said “Someone once told me that when it comes to photography, there is a big difference between ‘taking’ images and ‘making’ images. The photos presented here come from the process of learning to ‘make’ images. Here, the camera has become a more accurate reflection of the way each photographer relates to his or her surroundings. The photos have become a link between our shared visible world and the abstract place within each photographer."

The Karen Aqua Gallery is located at Cambridge Community Television, 438 Massachusetts Avenue in Central Square. CCTV’s hours are noon to 9PM Monday through Thursday, noon to 6PM on Friday, and 4 to 9PM on Sunday.

CCTV is the community media center serving Cambridge. Artists interested in exhibiting at the Karen Aqua Gallery should contact Susan Fleischmann at 617-401-4004. Upcoming Orientations for new CCTV members are Monday, July 1 at 6:30PM or Thursday, August 1 at 6:30PM.
