"Free Me" Music Video, CRLS

CRLS students particpated in a course entitled "Music Business and Production", honing their skills in the very competitive field of music production. The students started from scratch and using school midi-workstations, went through each of the steps required to produce their original CD titled "Fresh out the Basement" (referring to the location of the CRLS music department, which is in the basement of the Arts Building.) The course was collaboratively taught by band director, Bob Ponte and Choral teacher Gene Kelly. While Kelly covered the business and marketing aspects, Mr. Ponte focused on the music, and assignments included research of music business practices as well as music composition and production.

A second project was an outgrowth of the CD - a video produced to one of the cuts "Free Me". Sean Effel of CCTV produced the five minute music video, assisted by Alexander Harris, an intern from BU worked with both CCTV and Cambridge Educational Access program at CRLS last year.
