Oppression Is Worst Than Slaughter!

Let us begin with Ayats(Verses) from the the Holy Qur’an(Islamic Holy Book) to set the theme for this presentation: Surah(Chapter) 2 (Baqara), Ayats 190-193, (Holy Qur’an, Abdullah Yusuf Ali Translation).

With The Name Allah, Most Beneficent, Most Merciful

190. Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for Allah loveth not transgressors.

191. And slay them wherever you catch them and turned them out from where that have turned you out; for tumult and oppression are worst than slaughter; but fight them not at the Sacred Masjid unless they first fight you there; but if they fight you, slay them. Such is the reward of those who suppress faith.

192. But if they cease, Allah is oft forgiving, most merciful.

193. And fight them on until there is no more tumult or oppression and there prevail justice and faith in Allah; but if they cease let there be no hostility except to those who practice oppression.

Surah 3:189:

189. To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth; and Allah has power over all things.

There are different types of oppression, some are obvious, but some are very subtle. To name a few: lies, racism, nationalism, selfishness, evil, wickedness, false worship, etc. Allah wants us to be free to learn and choose whether we want the right way or the wrong way. Domination of the people is wrong,it is against the will and plan of Allah.

Allah says in the Qur'an to speak the truth even if it is against yourself, your parents, near kin, rich or poor. If you fear to speak the truth because what people will do, then you fear the people and not Allah. This is oppression. Manipulation and exploitation are oppression also.

Self-oppression is when we fear Satan and it stops our progress. That is self oppression because Allah says in the Qur’an that Satan has no authority over you except what you give him.

One who seeks to dominate others, must lie and use tricks to do it. This is the mind of Iblis, the Jinn nature. Iblis does not believe that human beings are responsible and cannot do right on their own and he is determined to prove that he is right. This is why Allah ended his authority, because his rule was oppressive.

Iblis believed that the human beings had to be put in a straight jacket and everything and every move be dictated to them. He does not believe that we have the ability to govern our own lives. This is because of his over inflated ego and his limited knowledge and understanding of Allah’s plan.

Iblis over estimates himself. He wants to be Allah. He seeks power and glory for himself and wants human beings to worship him. When a person has to use lies and tricks to rule, this is proof that they are very, very weak.

Allah is All-Knowing, All-Seeing, All-Powerful, the Author of Truth. There is no reason for Him to lie. There is no one equal to or like Him. Iblis, in order to dominate people, has to constantly bombard them with lies that sound logical. In order to rule people like this, you must try to keep the truth from them, especially understanding.

The oppressor will not share his knowledge and understanding with the oppressed. He will not speak truth to them, he will change the words from their right places (context). He will seek crookedness in the word of Allah to suit his own evil purpose. If someone seeks to give a clear explanation he becomes very angry and will tell you and the people who are listening to you that you have no right to do so. This is oppression.

The oppressor will also lie on the person who is telling you the truth, in hopes that you will turn a deaf ear to that person. They will deliberately ignore the truthful person as though he does not exist and seek to take control of the true idea and corrupt it subliminally. They will attempt to change the right way even though it is successful. These wicked conspirators will try to convince you not to help unless they okay it.

Let me read what Allah says concerning this, “ On the Day of Judgment you will have to answer for your beliefs and your deeds. You will not be able to blame others for your blindly following what is wrong.”

Allah revealed the Holy Qur’an and raised up Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him[PBUH] and revealed much enlightenment so that we would not be blind, would be responsible for our actions and make right decisions. Allah did not create us to be like sheep. Allah designed us to be homo-sapiens ( thinking creatures), capable of governing our own lives, with his guidance. Wicked people promote their teachers to you and try to keep others away from you because they have a plan to keep you under their domination.

Dear beloved people, we must read and study the Holy Qur’an and pray to Allah for understanding. We have excellent Islamic scholars in our communities, and we should listen to them and read their books, but not blindly. Allah blessed us with guidance so that we would not be blind, but have certain vision. Allah revealed revelation for all people.

I hope you have understood this presentation. May Allah bless us all with the light of understanding so that we can be good examples of righteousness and justice for all the people, the same as Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his companions were over 1400 years ago. Allah-U-Akbar!(Allah Is Greater).
