Spotlight on CCTV's Training and Production Mentor: Zach's story

Zach is here to support CCTV members through different stages of their production process.

Throughout my time at Cambridge Community Television, I have enjoyed working with a wide variety of individuals as a Production Training Mentor. From mentees with a solid grasp of technology and video editing software, to even the most novice of students. The majority of my help has included assistance with editing, supporting students with basic understanding of the Final Cut Pro X timeline, organizing and cutting clips, using titles and fades, and even the more advanced aspects of post-production including color correction and audio editing. My work has also included assigning tasks to help mentees get a clear vision for their project ideas and their “BeLive” programs, and to assist in brainstorming ideas to take their plans and goals to a whole new level. I have provided feedback on completed pieces and given general help on pace and narrative structure. As for the variety of mentees I have had, my work has primarily consisted of adults, but I have also had the opportunity to work with younger people, including several who are just beginning a new step in pursuing their higher education, and recent graduates.
