This weekend's Channel 9 Marathon is centered around the theme of money and the economy.

Watch Common Cents, Money as Debt, and other video series to help keep you spending smartly.

Common Cents is a money quiz show - with Massachusetts high school students as contestants. Watch Fri. May 19 at 6pm and Sat. May 20 at 5pm.

The Money As Debt series uses animated stories and diagrams to lead us from the sensible historical origins of our monetary system, through the consolidation of power in the hands of greedy banks and corrupt political interests, up to the current concern over an ever-growing burden of debt piling onto future generations. Watch Sun. May 21 at 12pm.

Short films discussing local economic issues - including Amazon vs Small Businesses, Born and Raised in Cambridge, and Changing Cambridge, play Sat. May 20 at 2:45pm.

And, feature-length documentaries from the Media Education Foundation - including Rich Media Poor Democracy, Capitalism Hits the Fan and Shop Till You Drop, Sat. May 20 at 8:15pm.

The Satigatha “mindful song” or "chant" is a unique blend of modern rock, folk, and Buddhist-oriented “kirtan,” dedicated to opening the heart of devotion and practice, and inspiring wisdom through contemplative music and interactive chanting. CCTV recorded the April 9 event at the Mt Auburn Cemetery.

Watch on Channel 8, Wed. May 17 at and Fri. May 19 at 5pm, and Sat. May 20 at 11am.

Also check out Science Saturday, an event for K-12 students featuring fun, family-friendly science and tech. The Akamai Foundation teamed up with MIT for the two-hour event, which was hosted in MIT’s Kresge Auditorium.
