This Week on TV: Celebrate LGBT Pride Week

This weekend's Channel 9 Marathon features LGBT Cambridge through the ages.

Boston Pride 2017 is this Saturday, June 10 - celebrate with a pride-themed marathon on Channel 9.

Journey back through the last few decades, with a Domestic Partnership Rally at City Hall in March of 2000, Mass Matrimony coverage of the first marriage licenses given out to same sex couples at Cambridge City Hall in May 2004. Seven Years of Marriage, a 2011 celebration in honor of city clerk Margaret Drury, and Supreme Court Marriage Equality Decision Rally, a celebration at City Hall in June 2013 following the Supreme Court decision to end the Defense of Marriage Act.

Also watch, The New Rules of Sexual and Gender Identity: NeighborMedia reporter Kristina Kehrer interviews young genderqueer comedian Jamie Flez about the current terminology around gender and sexuality.

We're Queer We're Here: A celebration of National Coming Out Day, in October of 2010.

Ephemera: Cambridge resident and archivist Libby Bouvier has spent most of her life collecting an archive of cause buttons and other "ephemera" from the women’s movement, the LGBT movement, and other radical causes she's been directly or indirectly involved with over the decades.

Documentaries from students in CCTV's Youth Media Program: Phoenix, a profile of an 18 year old transgender man and his experience. Love Has No Gender - interviews with folks reflecting on their experiences coming out.

Perkins 28: Testimony from the Secret Court Files of 1920: In 1920, Harvard convened a secret court to discipline students suspected of homosexuality. Perkins 28 dramatizes the closed-room trials, starring Harvard undergraduates.

Boston Gay Pride 2010: Boston Pride has been taking place for over 45 years – watch event coverage from the parade of 2010. Also catch the annual Cambridge Pride Brunch of 2014.

Cambridge's Citywide Holocaust Commemoration took place this year Tuesday, May 3, 2017. Brian Corr, and the City of Cambridge, hosted the annual service, recalling all who perished during the Holocaust with an evening of music, candle lighting and remembrance. The event took place at Temple Beth Shalom of Cambridge and was recorded by Andrew Gerzon.

Watch this week on Channel 8, Wed. Jun. 7 and Fri. Jun. 9 at 5pm, and Sat. Jun. 10 at 8pm.
