This Week on TV: Spooky fun from Penny Dreadful and her ghoulish co-hosts

If you find yourself at home on the couch this Saturday or Sunday evening, you are in for some fantastic, freaky fun. Penny Dreadful's Shilling Shockers is "New England's Most HEXellent Horror Program," in which Penny Dreadful and the gang bring you spooky entertainment classic horror movies from the not-so Golden Age of Terror. The debut episode in the show's newest, ninth season will air on Channel 96: Saturday Jan. 30 at 7pm and Sunday Jan. 31 at 9pm.

CCTV is not just Television in English. On Channel 96, you will find shows in Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, Amharic, Hindi, Mandarin, and more:

Starting this week, the program will include MAPS na TV, a new series from The Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers. Tune in for discussions with MAPS staff and featured guests, and learn about the many services the organization provides to Portuguese-speaking communities of Massachusetts. Every week, Mondays at 5:30pm and Wednesdays at 11:30am.

Poetry Matters, a reading on current issues by the Liberation Poetry Collective will air on Channel 8 Saturday Jan. 30 at 10pm, Wednesday Feb. 3 at 1pm, and Friday Feb. 5 at 4pm. If you enjoy the program, you may also appreciate producer Eddy Toussant's ongoing series, Haitian Poetry in Three Languages, which airs every week Saturdays at 10pm and Mondays at 1pm on Channel 96.

Micro-documentaries and shorts from youth in last year's 2015 Spring School Year Production Program will run throughout the week, Monday through Thursday, 4-4:30pm on Channel 9.
