City Council and School Committee candidate debates and other election-related programming will run throughout the month of October on Channel 8. This week, the following programs are scheduled to air:

Ward 6 Democratic Candidate Forum: Saturday October 17, 4pm and Sunday October 18, 6pm
Cambridge Education Association School Committee Candidates Debate: Saturday October 17, 10pm; Sunday October 18, 8:30pm; Wednesday October 21, 10pm
East Cambridge Planning Team Candidate Debates I and II: Tuesday, October 20, 2pm
Energy and Environment Candidate Night: Thursday, October 22, 8am
Alliance for a Better Cambridge Candidate Debate: Friday, October 23, 8am

This Saturday afternoon, hop into the Delorean of Channel 9 and travel back to the time when movie tickets cost $3.50, US Postage Stamps were 24 cents, and George Michael was at the top of the charts: 1988. Beginning at noon, watch the best of Cambridge in 1988, with the 1988 installment of CCTV's retrospective 25 Years in 25 Weeks series. At 3pm, visit the year 1990; at 6pm, '95, and at 9pm, '99.

If you're still in a retro mood, tune in for Alternative Views TV, a re-broadcast of a public access TV show from 1991, discussing the conflicts in Iraq and Kuwait and the Gulf War. On Channel 9, Sunday 10/18 at 3:05pm and Friday 10/23 at 7pm, and on Channel 96, Tuesday 10/20 at 1pm and Thursday 10/22 at 9pm.

Port Community Pride Day took place September 12 at Clement Morgan Park. If you missed the party, celebrate late by watching footage from the event: On Channel 9 Saturday 10/17 at 11:50am, Sunday 10/18 at 3pm, and Friday 10/23 at 8:54pm.

The Port Landing, a new affordable housing development at 131 Harvard St. in Area IV broke ground in September. Watch the event on Channel 96 Saturday 10/17 at 9am. And on Channel 9 Sunday 10/18 at noon, Monday 10/19 at 10am and Friday 10/23 at midnight.

The city gathered in September for a public meeting on how we should best proceed in working to combat homeless in our community. Watch Cambridge's Charrette on Homelessness on Channel 96 Saturday 10/17 at 10:10am. And, on Channel 9 Sunday 10/18 at 1:10pm and Wednesday 10/21 at 10am.
