September 5, 2013 - 11:43am Hello neighbors, Amelia from the Cambridge Community Center here. Just writing a quick note to remind you that as the school year starts, so does after school! The Center, as we fondly call it, is located at the corner of Callender Street and Howard Street in the Riverside neighborhood of Cambridge, and we have a great program for kids in grades K-8. You can find out all about it on our website and by liking us on Facebook Some highlights are 1:1 weekly literacy tutoring by MIT students, homework help, weekly STEM activities in our new science lab, and other special activities like gardening, dance, and more. If you're looking for an after school program close to home, or know someone who is, feel free to shoot me an email at or just stop by! Thanks! read more

Each day of the week middle schoolers are offered elective activities. The mission of CCC INSPIRES is to inspire and empower each child to pursue their interests and achieve their goals; to nurture each child’s individuality and his or her place in the community. August 19, 2011 - 4:21pm Fun Day for Miss K is an event held annually by the Cambridge Recreation Department. The event is in remembrance of Janet Kendrick the former Executive Director of the Cambridge Community Center who suddenly passed on July 14, 2008. Three years later she is still remembered for her 25 years of service to the Cambridge Community Center. The kids participated in several activities that included egg races, sack races, sprint relays and a water balloon toss. "Miss K was a beautiful woman who ran a great program," said Director Bob Goodwin, who was responsible for executing the event. At the end of the event each child was given the ribbon pictured above and gathered to say "We love you Ms. K." read more

July 27, 2011 - 1:13pm Thanks to the generosity of individual donors, the Cambridge Community Center (CCC) in Cambridge, Mass. was able to raise $759 for an Energy Star-rated refrigerator on New Generation Energy’s Green Project Listing Site. “NGE has helped the Cambridge Community Center take the first step to being a green center,” said Jose Mendez, CCC’s director of marketing and outreach. “We hope to continue working with NGE to make the center as green as can be.” This refrigerator replaced the CCC’s old inefficient model, and it is expected to save the center $3,862 and 26,422 lbs of CO2 over its lifetime. To celebrate the completion of the project — and the awesomeness of the new fridge — New Generation Energy and the CCC had an ice pop party, which is featured in the photos above. As promised, the CCC is hard at work on planning its next green project. Check back soon for more details — or sign up for our newsletter to get the latest project information. read more
