November 13, 2013 - 4:37pm Quick Startup Guide for the Smartfade ETC 1296 Control Console How the Console should normally look 1. Before you begin to use the lighting board, make sure it is set to its standard “normal” setting. All faders should be set to their lowest positions. How to turn on the Console 1. Make sure the console is plugged into a power outlet. 2. Make sure the DMX cable is plugged in. The male end of the cable should be plugged into the DMX out port on the console. The female end of the cable should be plugged into a DMX input outlet on the wall. There are DMX outlets in both the studio and master control, so one can use the console in either room. 3. Press the MODE button. Various lights will flash on the console as it powers on. Make sure that the display shows “Full Control” as the selected mode. If it does not, use the wheel on the console to select that mode. Overview of the Console There are 24 numbered faders on the Smartfade ETC 1296 Control Console. Each fader allows you to control up to 4 different channels, for a total of 96 channels at a time. With patching, the DMX interface is actually capable of controlling up to 512 channels, but just not at the same time.... read more

Studio The BeLive studio is an open forum for the expression of ideas, politics, culture, news, and more. This low-tech, single-camera studio enables any Cambridge resident or organization to have a 27-minute live program on Channel 9 without elaborate equipment training. Any Cambridge resident may have a one-time BeLive show without becoming a member. Access Membership is required for an ongoing weekly or monthly series. Slots are available on a first come, first served basis. To request a BeLive slot, please submit a request form. Cambridge Community Radio Cambridge Community Radio slots are available from 10am to 4pm on Channel 9. March 7, 2013 - 9:10pm What are the most newsworthy stories from the last 40 years? The Boston area's history is America's history. Over the last 40 years, the Hub has been home to some of the nation's biggest news stories. The Boston area has lived the stories that continue to inspire authors, poets, playwrights and screenwriters. This month, the residents of Greater Boston can choose which of those stories we want see again. WGBH Media Library and Archives has teamed up with Boston Public Library, Cambridge Community Television, Northeast Historical Film and WCVB News to create the Boston TV News Digital Library (bostonlocaltv.org). Now through March 30, individuals can search the catalog for stories about their towns, their teams, and the topics they are most interested in to vote for the stories they want WGBH to preserve. In all, WGBH and their partners will preserve 40 hours of content. YOU CAN VOTE to make sure Cambridge content is included!
