Zip Docs Topics?
November 26, 2008 - 7:13pm — shaunDo you know of any people/places/things in Cambridge that are begging to be profiled?
We are soliciting potential topics for our Documentary Production: Zip Docs 021XX workshop. The students in Zip Docs produce a 3-5 minute documentary that is featured on CCTV's Media Map and channels. Past classes have produced pieces about 55 Magazine St., The Potluck Mural, Cambridge Co-Housing, and The Charles River White Geese.
If you have any subjects that you would like to see covered, post a comment below! And if you are interested in signing up for the Zip Docs workshop, please continue to check our class schedule to see when it will run again!

Any Interest in an Audio Podcasting Course?
November 25, 2008 - 11:05am — ColinI've been teaching the Blogging 101 and Videoblogging Production courses here at CCTV during the past year. I'm thinking about dropping the Blogging 101 course in favor of proposing an Audio Podcasting course for our training program.
Would anyone be interested in taking the course is we offered it?
I am going to work on a syllabus over the next few weeks. If you're interested in taking the course, and if there's anything you would interested in learning more about, please leave a comment below.
Thanks!

A snapshot of community journalism around the country
November 24, 2008 - 12:47am — JulieAdlerI've been doing some research for a Berkman project called Media Cloud, and I've come across a lot of sad little local news websites, even in big cities like Dallas, TX. Being small community papers and such, they're drastically under-funded, some of the sites not including any content at all other than contacts and advertising info. What I've found so far - and what I'm likely to continue to find even more of as I explore sites in even smaller markets - made me really appreciate this community and in particular, this website. read more...

MAC Member Lynette Laveau Saxe
November 19, 2008 - 4:20pm — clodaghLynette Laveau Saxe was elected to the MAC in April, 2008. Lynette explains, "Having been a member of CCTV for about 5 years and the producer of The Callalloo Express BeLive show (circa July 06), I have been able to experience first hand community tv at work. The programs predominantly are highly creative and offer many opportunities to the producers to make a qualitative difference in the lives of the viewers and improve in the process. We do this on meager budgets and limited funds. Delivery, marketing and producing of overall TV operations is costly and so when the opportunity arose for me to be part of the MAC, I chose to work in Fundraising. I have a varied background as an Arts Entrepreneur /Theatre Practitioner/Event Planner. With a rich experience in working on a limited budget and being a highly creative and resourceful person, I feel that I could positively affect fundraising endeavors at CCTV. I truly look forward to working with the MAC team on fundraising efforts."
