Submitting Your Programs for Cablecast on CCTV
Cambridge Community Television operates three cable television channels in the city of Cambridge.
Residents and members may gain access to the channels in order to cablecast programming that they have created or sponsored. This means your program could be seen by as many as 29,000 subscribing households in the city.
Please read on to learn about how to submit your program for broadcast.
There are two ways in which your programs can be cablecast on our channels: Live or Pre-recorded.
Live programming
The most popular program format on CCTV channels is the live, miniature hotset that we call "BeLive". We cablecast over 60 of these live half-hour programs each week on topics all across the board. Belive program time slots are assigned to Cambridge residents and members on a first come, first serve basis.
CCR, or Cambridge Community Radio, is a two hour audio-only format cablecast on our channels. These live programs are treated like traditional radio programs on our television channels, and feature various topics.
To get your own Belive or CCR program slot, you must:
- Read and fully understand the policies, and more specifically the programming policies. You must agree to these policies or we cannot broadcast your progam.
- Become a member of CCTV. Only Access Members of CCTV can have BeLive programs.
- Download and complete the BeLive Agreement or the CCR Program Request. Incomplete forms cannot be accepted.
- Non-residents are required to obtain the signature of a local Cambridge sponsor willing to take full responsibility for legal abuses contained in your program.
- If all your paperwork is in order then one of our staff will contact you to schedule a time slot and provide a brief training session.
Pre-recorded programming
CCTV will accept pre-recorded program submissions as either "single" or "series" type programs. Single programs are one-shot, stand alone programs that are scheduled according to timeslot availability on a short term basis. Series are a number of episodes of the same program that are cablecast in a fixed timeslot across many weeks or months. The series contract and timeslot lasts until January of the next year, when the timeslot may be changed at CCTV's discretion.
Any Cambridge resident can submit a single program free of charge. Series programs always require a with CCTV. To submit a single or series program:
- Read and fully understand the policies, and more specifically the programming policies. You must agree to these policies or we cannot broadcast your progam.
- Become a member of CCTV. If you are a Cambridge resident submitting a single program there is no membership required.
- Download and complete the Cablecast Request. Incomplete forms cannot be accepted.
- Non-residents are required to obtain the signature of a local Cambridge sponsor willing to take full responsibility for legal abuses contained in your program.
- Submit your completed Cablecast Request form with your program in either MPG2, DVD. CCTV no longer accepts programming submissions in VHS formats. Programming may be of any running length.
