Catalyst Collaborative@MIT, Underground Railway Theater’s science theater collaboration, was recently invited to the Academy of Arts & Sciences’ Stated Meeting. The House of the Academy welcomed the cast of upcoming production, REMEMBERING H.M., for a staged reading and panel discussion.
At the age of 27, Henry Molaison (known as H.M. to the scientific community) became frozen in time. After experimental brain surgery, H.M. was unable to form new memories. His personal tragedy became neuroscience’s golden opportunity, contributing more to our understanding of the brain than had been learned in the previous 100 years. CC@MIT joined esteemed panelists from the field of neuroscience, who spoke to the impact of H.M. on our current understanding of memory:
