The bird in the photo above is a Piliated Woodpecker photographed on 5/10/10 by John Harrison during a group visit to the Secret Great Blue Heron rookery that is the subject of this months Expert Series video on CCTV. It's uncommon but not rare around this area but to get a great open shot as John did is quite an accomplishment.
