Cambridge Health Alliance Celebrates World Breastfeeding Week with Free Family Event
In celebration of World Breastfeeding Week, Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) will host a free family event on Friday, August 6, from 1 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. at CHA’s Cambridge Hospital campus. The annual event honors mothers and babies, offering information and support to breastfeeding mothers and their infants.
The theme of this year’s event is “Breastfeeding – Just 10 Steps: The Baby Friendly Way.” The 10 Steps are used by hospitals worldwide to promote optimal breastfeeding. The Cambridge Birth Center, one of CHA’s many women's health services, was recently accredited as “Baby-Friendly,” making it the second facility in Massachusetts to receive the designation.
Various community organizations that help breastfeeding moms and families will be on hand to answer questions. The event will also include refreshments and door prizes and is co-sponsored by the Cambridge-Somerville WIC Program.
