Cambridge Expanding LGBT Campaign Team (Pride Event)
Presidential Candidate Barack Obama has solidified his commitment to LGBT issues by expanding his national and grassroots LGBT campaign teams and vocalizing his support for gay families. Presidential Candidate Barack Obama announced recently that he is expanding his LGBT campaign team, adding 5 notable LGBT advocates to its Steering Committee, including Rep. Tammy Baldwin, an openly gay Congresswoman from Wisconsin, and one of only two openly gay representatives in the Congress. These structural campaign changes mark a vested interest in serving the needs of LGBT voters. "I'm proud to have the support of Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin, the Obama Pride Co-Chairs, and so many leaders across the LGBT community," said Senator Obama. "I believe that we can achieve equality for the millions of LGBT people in this country, and with this team I know that the LGBT community will play a major role in our campaign to bring change to Washington." Pride 2008 may be over, but you can still show your pride and support this presidential campaign through a local Obama Pride event in Cambridge. Come, let's expand the LGBT campaign team with more volunteer support here in Cambridge.

“While we have come a long way since the Stonewall riots in 1969, we still have a lot of work to do. Too often, the issue of LGBT rights is exploited by those seeking to divide us. But at its core, this issue is about who we are as Americans. It’s about whether this nation is going to live up to its founding promise of equality by treating all its citizens with dignity and respect.”
