Introduction to Developing a Social Media Strategy
On January 21, 2010, CCTV offered a workshop for Cambridge Nonprofits and City Departments, entitled "Introduction to Developing a Social Media Strategy for Cambridge Nonprofit Organizations."
Workshop details:
"This workshop is designed to help you develop a social media workflow for your organization. Topics include: how to develop a communications strategy, how to generate followers and stimulate discussion, how to create a social media identity, how to manage your time, and how to measure success. Examples will be presented at every stage to help you envision a successful strategy using social media tools."

Applications Due February 1st!
During the Digital Media Fellowship, running from February through May 2010, representatives from Cambridge non-profits will receive training in a small group to produce media for their organizations. Participants in CCTV's Media Fellowship Program Will:
· Gain the knowledge and skills necessary to produce effective digital media for television and the Internet;
· Develop media-oriented relationships with CCTV and others;
· Produce several finished pieces including a public service announcement, personal narrative, informational profile, and more.
How to Apply:
The Digital Media Fellowship Program is designed for non-profit organizations and City agencies. To apply, a senior staff member must nominate a staff person for the fellowship, and agree to support that person's work by providing time during the workweek for training and production. The nominated staff person should be a career employee dedicated to developing and implementing a media strategy for the organization. He or she should also be comfortable using computers and the Internet.
This is a competitive process; for acceptance criteria click here. Application deadline is February 1, 2010; those accepted to the program will be notified by February 10, 2010. If accepted, participants will need to pay a membership fee and program fee.
Introduction to Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and RSS for Non-Profit Organizations
Thursday, February 4, 9 AM-Noon
Gain hands-on experience and become more comfortable with using social media services such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and RSS. Technical aspects will be covered including how to incorporate social media into your organization's existing blog or website. Participants are encouraged to bring logos, photos, videos, and other media to use in setting up accounts for their organization. Familiarity with Macintosh computers suggested. Limited to one participant per organization.
