MAC Meeting Minutes, Wednesday, January 20, 2010

Present: Lloyd, Clyde, Tanya, John, Julie
Absent: Elizabeth, Lynette

No committee or Board updates at this time.

Station Update (Nilagia): Board/MAC nominations forms will be available soon. No decision yet on potential relocation. Refranchising hearing on Wednesday, February 3, 6-9pm -- last chance for public input about CCTV’s license renewal.

MAC BeLive show updates:
John had his show on January 14, went well, had three members of the Haitian community on to discuss the recent earthquake, and what the Cambridge Haitian community is doing. He also posted his show on CCTV’s website. Discussion that it would be good if all of the MAC BeLive programs were posted online, discussion regarding who is responsible for doing this.

Next show is January 28, hosted by Clyde – will focus on youth who want to get involved in media.

There were two dates left to be assigned: March 11 will now be hosted by Julie, and March 25 will be hosted by Tanya.

MAC BeLive Awards – Lloyd – discussion of how to recognize BeLive producers – if awards were given, what would the criteria be? Lloyd suggested giving awards based on categories such as best graphics, community impact, etc. Clyde suggested that awards should be given to anyone who has consistently had a show, but other members said that this may exclude people as well (people who have been ill, etc). Suggestion that all BeLive producers should receive an award that is customized to the show they do – for example, “CCTV recognizes (blank) member for their show about (blank) subject).” Nilagia will bring this idea to the next staff meeting.

The next MAC meeting will be on Wednesday, February 17th, 6pm, in the big studio.
