WHAT A JOKE... REALLLY?... REALLY!

Before I start, let me warn you... this post is not for the faint of heart. No more explanation or understanding or whatever... I've been mad for a while now... Now i'm just angry... I'm sorry to say but now that i've been an neighborhood activist for 5 years, bloging for a few... participating in trying to make my community better... it's time to get mad... pissed... angry... Why? cause our city governance is a joke... Oh... how I can I say that, we have triple A bond rating! Frack you... GOVERNANCE IS NOT ABOUT MONEY... A city council being paid outrageous amounts of money... with the power to choose their heir and partners... boards with not the slightest understanding of what their doing... and believe me, I prefer to take you for idiots rather than smart and conniving, because the later would mean you know what you doing, and therefore would be guilty of consciously screwing us...

Damn should I keep on going... I'm mad at myself... for always falling, for thinking that by participating you can make a difference... What the frack... Definitely not... Like at home, the political establishment... is a business... where people make their living because they don't know what else do to... losers... I have no more respect for this 'thing'... because it has no respect for me. Sure I respect the individuals, or do I...

What an idiot I'm am... what a damn idiot... I fell for the charlatan's trick... I drank the magic potion hoping to be healed... I prayed every day in the hope to see god in death... I traveled the yellow bring road and met the wizard... No wonder Dorothy wanted to escape... What a fracking farce...

Before I continue, I would like to apologize to my neighbours and fellow cantabridgians who fight so hard for their neighborhoods... You're the most amazing people I met in a while... with a will and determination to make things better... I admire and respect you... Unlike Dorothy, you're not running away. You're fighting... you present... lobby, explain, understand... communicate to make things better for us all, thx

Back to what makes me mad... A city election where 15K voters, 26% voter turnout is success, a system where elected official will get reelected, where the old can choose the new... a stagnant system... masked by make believe... IN CAMBRIDGE, LIKE EVERYWHERE ELSE, MONEY TALKS, IDEAS WALK... i walk...

And really don't believe anything else. City councilors: 65K per year, after 10 years full pension and health care... really! City Manager 300K per year. Board member 0K per, year why the frack would you do this... I don't believe in 'because I love my city' BS, but I really don't know why you do this...

I remember a few years back their was an opening on the BZA, I applied and was rejected by Healey, thx dude... you saved my life...

Last night we were at the planning board.... Why do I do this when I know it's gone lead no where... out of respect for my neighbors... A real estate group owning One Canal was there to ask for their first floor to become offices rather than what is required by their current permit, retail. I'll try to keep this brief... The proponent made it's presentation, fair enough their a business trying to make more money, the board reacted rather positively. Then came the resident of East Cambridge, speaking clearly and making a strong case for why this relieve should not be granted. At that point the proponent and their attorney were clearly feeling the heat, they gambled and were clearly sensing it was not going to pay off... they were desperate... But that's without counting on, the what should I call it now,... arrogance, stupidity,... sense of fairness... of the fracking board. The proponent was playing the poor corporate business loosing money because of the difficult times, having tried for 20 year to make this work... but really in need of help... why do I feel like i've seen this somewhere... Oh yes now I remember... that's the lines the banks used to get bailout money from taxpayers... amazing... how it trickles down (I finally get the concept of 'Trickle down economics') ... But the most amazing is that the board took the bate... wow... I was amazed to hear the same word I heard from congressmen, tv news, and the rest of the propaganda machine... the board was like "hey neighbourhood we hear you, but this business needs our help... how can we refuse... their the heart of our tax ($$$$$$) base, how can we refuse, really!

... Wowww... astounding...

I'm so sad... frustrated, angry... what a fracking charade... Last weekend I saw "Dr Horrible Sing Along Blog" for the first time, for those who haven't see it I highly recommended it (http://drhorrible.com/). This was created during the writer's strike. I'm not gone go into why this is relevant... just check it out... By the way the writers did strike and lost... even if the propaganda tells you they won... (everyone has to save face... pride... you know)

I never thought of the "Wizard of Oz" as such a harsh critic of the system... But it really is... Dorothy starts full of hope... young and innocent... blessed by the fairy... ready to believe anything... why would anybody lie to her... (cause you're a fracking idiot and they need it that way)... follows the yellow brick road... why deviate... On the way, makes friends... and most significantly, reaches her goal: meets the wizard... falls for his act... kills for him... when she comes back from killing ... she discovers the hoax... there's no wizard... just an old man... an old liar... master at the art of deception... who forgets her as he leaves to go 'home'... luckily theirs the fairy...

Behind curtains of lies and deceit, political tricks and propaganda and most importantly MONEY that make it all possible... 'WIZARDS'... only wizards... When I decided to blog... I was Dorothy... what a fracking idiot.. i knew, I still played... must be a masochist... You know what is really sad in all this, really sad... so sad it's on the verge of terrifying... No one is willing to change... no ones is willing to sacrifice their lives for change... why should they... i'm not...

Maybe I should get a phd in horribleness... join the 'evil league of evil'...

Why not, just like Dr Horrible, my dream has now definitely been killed, and I might be the cause ...

PS: Despite strong opposition from the resident, Planning Board approves St James development: http://www.cctvcambridge.org/condoplan_OKd
Despite strong opposition from the resident, Planning Board approves One Canal request (not yet but I assure you they will)
Fracking BS...

PS 2: We are willing to sacrifice our lives for what we have ... rarely for what we dream ...

PS 3: I'm willing to bet 1 million dollars (don't know where i'll find it... lol), to go in a fund for East Cambridge, that I can fill out your space, for the next 3 years, with a budget of $100,000.

PS 4: THIS IS A CALL TO ALL BUSINESS, SMALL AND LOCAL PREFERRED, ONE CANAL STREET FIRST FLOOR SPACE IS AVAILABLE. Rent: $1/sqft/month for the first 3 years. WE WANT YOU TO SUCCEED. After the 3rd year lease will be increased by 10% every year and capped at $5/sqft/month. ANY TAKERS...?
This locations sees more then 1 million foot traffic per year... Drop a comment for more details....

Bob Healy's band of merry men (and two women) at work. I stayed for the whole show, and actually heard some wisdom from board member Hugh Russell, and more scepticism of the petitioner's claims than I'm used to from that body. I had the same reaction a couple of weeks ago when the board heard the Fanning petition to down zone the Kendall Cinema site. It could be a passing trend, but is something better than nothing?

All that said, I too, choked on some of the stuff coming out of the board. Charles Studen's whole spiel in sympathy of the poor put upon landlord (maybe he was smitten by the fake blonde executive), and Patricia Singers claim that it was the neighborhood's fault that retail there failed because we didn't support it. I just threw up in my mouth a little at that point. The other thing that really galled me is that the board completely ignored all of the false statements on the application.

Oh well you gotta have a hobby I guess.
