This course explores the social construction of gender through mediated messages. Numerous clips will be presented in class from print, broadcast, and on-line media, and students will gain skills to more meaningfully engage with media representations of gendered roles through visual and rhetorical analysis. Through lectures, facilitated discussions, and student presentations, participants can expect to leave the class with enhanced skills to inform both their consumption and production of mediated messages.
