Fire and Police respond to arson attempt in East Cambridge
Cambridge police and fire personnel responded to what neighbors described as an arson on Hurley Street at 4:45PM on July 6, 2009. "A kid threw a can of gas between the buildings and lit it up." It looked like residents put out the fire with a hose. One man said that the neighborhood isn't what it used to be. He said that [people] keep buying up their buildings and renting them out with no supervision or maintenance. This incident occurred in the passageway between 241 and 243 Hurley St. The man was referring to the owner of the building next door on Sciarappa St. that experienced an electrical fire last month. The building abutting 243 Hurley on the west side is owned by the same landlord.

This is horrible. Did anyone recognize the kid? Was it someone from the neighborhood?
