2010 Hometown Video Festival
The 2010 Hometown Video Festival is coming again! The Hometown Video Festival honors and promotes community media and local cable programs that are first distributed on Public, Educational, and Governmental (PEG) access or Local Origination (LO), cable television channels. Sponsored by the Alliance for Community Media, this national festival recognizes creative programs that address community needs, develop diverse community involvement, challenge conventional commercial television formats, and move viewers to experience television in a different way.
Hometown festival must receive your submission by March 27, 2010, in Olympia, WA, so it must be mailed early! As an added incentive to our CCTV members, we are willing to pay 1/2 of the $40 entry fee if members submit a festival entry through us. Entry DVDs, forms and checks must be submitted to CCTV by 5 PM, Friday, March 19, 2010. After this date you are on your own!
All program entries must have been cablecast between January 1 and December 31, 2009. Program entries cannot exceed 30 minutes, if the program is longer than 30 minutes then you must assemble the first and last ten minutes as well as a ten minute sample from the middle. Series programs must select a single episode for entry, compilation tapes are not excepted. Download the entry booklet.
Programs may be submitted in the following categories: About Access, Access-ABLE, Children's programming, Community Event, Computer/Video Art, Cultural and International Diversity, Democracy in Action, Documentary Event/Profile/PSA, Educational Activities, Educational Class Project, Educational Profile, Empowerment, Entertainment and Variety, Entertainment Talk Show, Gay/Lesbian, Govt. Activities, Govt. Profile, Informational Feature, Informational Talk Show, Innovative, Instructional, Live Format, Local Performances, Magazine Shows, Making a Difference, Music Video, Nationally Distributed, News, Original Teleplay, PSA, Seniors, Short Subject, Spiritual/Inspirational, Sports Coverage, Sports Entertainment, Videotext, and Visual Arts. Each category is judged in three sections: Non-professional, Professional, and Youth.
All DVDs must be submitted to CCTV by March 19 with a completed entry form and a $20 check payable to CCTV in order to take advantage of the entry fee discount. Specific questions regarding this festival should be researched here: http://www.acmhometown.org
