Filming ideas for Saturday

This Saturday will be our last chance to film a derby bout, so it makes sense to go in with a plan. I know we've all had a chance to review at least part of the footage we got last time - so let's make some plans for what kind of shots we want to get this time to compliment what we already have. If anyone has ideas, please post 'em to the blog, then on saturday we can split them up so we can all be in charge of certain things.

Here's some stuff I would like to see us get:

1.) More interviews with players before/after the bout, focusing questions mainly the bout itself (how they prepare for it, how the feel before/after, how it feels to have all the fans watching, injuries or exciting bout moments etc)
2.) More of the preparation for the bout (I know we can't get in the locker room, but maybe we ask the coaches about filming the pre-game huddles or similar things)
3.) Focused close ups on players faces during the bout showing the exertion (I know this will be tough, but it would be cool. Could also get some when they are sitting down after playing, and are still all red-faced) read more...

Scrimmage this Sunday!

We'll be going to film the Derby Dames scrimmage this Sunday in Holbrook. This will be the last chance for many players to scrimmage before the bout next week so it should be exciting. Check out Margaret Hart's website for some photos of past scrimmages (and other derby related events).

Kari (i.e. "Mayhem") sent me more detailed info on watching to the Eastern Regionals on Mavtv for anyone who's interested - here it is:

Go to http://www.mavtv.com/
Click on the blue "Watch MavTV" button which is in the middle of the screen towards the top.
On the bottom of the screen there are "channels" like "motors" and "women." Scroll until you get to"Men's Entertainment" and click on it.
On the right of the screen there is a box with a listing of shows. At the top of the box "schedule" should be highlighted. Click on "Just added" to change the listing.
Scroll down to the bottom of the list and click on the link for "MavTV Roller Derby: Atlanta vs. Windy City."

Proj Doc III is on a ROLL!

Project Documentary (III) just started this week and we already have our first shoot planned for this Saturday, Nov.10th. We'll be filming the Wicked Pissahs take on the Nutcrackers in the second game of the Boston Derby Dames 2007 season! If you've never seen a roller derby game here's your chance - come out and watch (and maybe you'll even end up in our film!). Check out the Derby Dames website for more info.

By the way, since this is my first blog entry of the new class, I'd like to dedicate it to the memory of Jason Crow, without whom proj doc as we know it would not exist. The class will not be the same without him. Luckily, we have Jason Ong stepping up to fill the void, bringing a wealth of experience, skills and a keen sense of fashion. Jason is gone, long live Jason!
