Ants Documentary - Interview #1!

Our first interview is 'In The Can'!

We shot our interview with Megan Frederickson on Wednesday, 5/9 in CCTV's big studio. Check out pictures at our Flickr account. Aida, Jason O. & Amy S. crewed on this hour long interview and the video looks and sounds great. Great job! Amy and Aida shared interviewer duties and they covered a broad range of topics with Megan.

We have two full tapes of footage: one tape was recorded in the camera as a master/safety shot, the other was recorded in the control room while switching between two cameras. I'm guessing that we will concentrate on using the footage from the tape with the switching, using the master shot tape only in rare cases where the switching is awkward.

We will review and critique our footage on Monday, 5/14. Anybody want to volunteer to transcribe this interview? Or a group of people who want to split up the video and each transcribe small sections?

Do those who shot this interview have comments/critiques of the shoot? Anything to do differently next time? Suggestions for new questions?

I'll do the second half of the interview - I want to watch it anyway since I missed out on the taping. I can work on it over the weekend if I can borrow the tapes or DVD for then.

I'm going to create a DVD copy of the master shot and the switching footage for transcription.

It should be ready by 9 PM tonight (5/10), when CCTV closes. I'm going to store it with the MiniDV tapes we've been using so far. Whoever wants to help transcribe the interview can use it.

I'm volunteering right now to transcribe the first half-hour of the switching footage, and if no one else volunteers (by this Sunday) to take the next half of the switching footage, I'll do that, too. E-mail me if you want to help me so we can work out details.

Once we have a full transcript of the switching footage, the transcript of the master shot footage will be the same, with a slight timecode shift.
