R. Lee Post is exhibiting her recent photography at the Karen Aqua Gallery at Cambridge Community Television, CCTV, through June 22nd. The public is invited to a reception on Wednesday, June 20th from 6-8 pm.
The exhibit is titled Appearances, and she is exhibiting two themes or series of photographs: Anima Mundi and Reflections. Reflections is being premiered in this exhibit. Initially she set out to photograph reflected colors and shapes on water, but then discovered that the elements of wind and waves cause magical images to appear and give her the experience of co-creating with nature. The surprisingly surreal images, which emerge from reflections, can be seen in this exhibit.
There are also new images from her Anima Mundi series. The idea of Anima Mundi is that this world is a living being endowed with soul and intelligence, which animates all matter, in the same sense in which the soul is thought to animate the human. In both series, Post is drawn to images with a spirit that stimulates recognition, imagination, and dreams; that are doorways from one mind to another: the space of us.
