OSS at CCTV

Open Source Software helps to bridge the gap of the Digital Divide.
It is important for some people to have access to media production software at home. For that reason I am starting up a Group on CCTV's site that will allow members to post information, tutorials and links to free Open Source Software ( OSS ) which will enable all of our members to create media for CCTV.

To get the ball rolling, I will start with four programs that I use regularly.

Open Office
http://www.openoffice.org
This set of programs is similar to Microsoft Office.

GIMP
http://www.gimp.org
This program is similar to Photoshop

Audacity
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
This is an excellent audio editor.

Blender
www.blender.org
3D animation software. It is similar to Maya.

A word of caution, only download this software from trusted sites after you have thoroughly investigated it on your own. You might find that you need help when it comes to downloading the correct versions onto your own computer. Feel free to write this group for help. You can find many tutorials for using this software on the sites I have provided. Have fun!!!
