CCTV’s NeighborMedia program is designed to help people in Cambridge tell stories that matter to their community. We provide the tools and training; you provide the content!
NeighborMedia journalists will receive a free one-year access membership at CCTV, which includes a $100 class voucher and free use of facilities upon certification. We will also provide:
• A free one-year access membership at CCTV
• A Flip Mino video camera during your time in the program
• One-on-one support
• Comprehensive training and access to a wide variety of media production equipment
• A community of media-makers with whom to share ideas and feedback
• Both a citywide and global audience online for your work!
• Receive Media Training - gain skills to tell your own stories about your neighborhood
• Make Media - using our equipment or equipment you might already have
• Attend Group Meetings - to learn from other NeighborMedia journalists
Step one: Check out www.neighbormedia.org to get a sense of the material produced by our last group of citizen journalists. We welcome all types of content and would not expect new participants to conform to any reporting standards; however, all stories must have a [Cambridge] community focus.
Step two: Download and fill out the NeighborMedia Application (PDF). Please note the best way to get in touch so we can contact applicants to set up a pre-assessment.
Step three: Please email responses to neighbormedia@cctvcambridge.org, fax to 617-661-6927, or mail to CCTV, 675 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA 02139, or drop off your application at CCTV M-Th, 12pm-9pm, F 12pm-6pm or Sun 4 pm-9pm. APPLICATION DEADLINE is September 22.
