Membership Information
The first step to getting involved at CCTV is to attend an orientation and become a member. Membership grants individuals and organizations access to our training, production equipment, and support in producing media. There are four general types of membership.
Website Membership | FREE | Create Your Account NowOur website provides 24/7/365 free access to local residents about issues and perspectives in the City of Cambridge and abroad. Anyone can create an account and begin creating their own local content by blogging or otherwise contributing materials that they believe to be relevant to the greater community. Website access does not, however, grant access to our equipment and facilities - for that you should keep reading.
Access Membership | $55/yr | Download FormAccess Membership is limited to Cambridge residents, and membership fees include full access to all of CCTV's services, classes, facilities, equipment, computer lab, and time on our channels. This membership includes a $100 voucher for class costs. Access Members must provide proof of Cambridge residency in the form of a state-issued ID or a current utility bill. There are discounts available for youth, seniors and low income individuals.
Affiliate Membership | $25/yr | Download FormIf you are not a Cambridge resident but still would like to use some of our services then the Affiliate Membership is right for you. This limited membership type allows you to submit programming to CCTV’s channels, enroll in some of our classes, use our public computer lab, and rent our equipment and facilities at cost. Also, consider contacting the public access television organization in your town and learn what they have to offer. The greater Boston area has a high concentration of access organizations and there is a good chance you have one in your neighborhood.
Organizational Membership | Fees based on sliding scale | Download FormOrganizations have media needs as well and CCTV provides this membership structure so that organizations serving Cambridge may access CCTV's services to do their work. Any incorporated organization based in Cambridge or whose service area includes Cambridge is eligible. The organization must pay a small fee that then allows individuals from your organization to become Access Members, regardless of their residency. Organizational members also receive extra benefits such as annual event coverage and opportunities to create special programming that highlights your organization. Download the membership form to learn more about fees and eligibility.
Internship | Download FormCCTV's Internship program offers individuals the chance to volunteer at CCTV in various capacities in order to gain special knowledge or experience in media production and community programming. Internships begin with a 4-month commitment of 4-6 hours per week and can extend to as much as nearly full time commitments for students seeking college credit. The application process is competitive and concentration areas may include live cablecasting, computer graphics, media production, computer lab supervision, training and education, and administrative responsibilities.
