Get ready! On Saturday night, May 31, 2008, three teams of CCTV members will assemble to begin work on programs that will be screened live on television and by a live studio audience of friends and family on the very next day! If you enjoy working on a team, and getting random assignments, and getting up early in the morning, and even like a little bit of pressure, come participate in this fun event. This is the third such production marathon at CCTV, our 14-hour and 15-hour marathons were great successes now that CCTV is turning 20 years old this newe 20-hour marathon will be even better.

This is how the day will work:

  • Participants must be CCTV members. It is best that each member have worked on a production through CCTV, either in classes or with other members on contracted productions.
  • Teams will have only 20 consecutive hours to produce a finished program. The production begins sharply at 8PM on May 31, 2008, for an introduction meeting and planning sessions. The deadline for finishing the program is 4PM on June 1, the public screening of the finished programs will take place at 6:00 PM in the CCTV studio and live on television.
  • Teams will be assigned random geographic areas of Cambridge in which their pieces much feature, and beyond this teams will have full full creative control to design, plan, shoot and edit their pieces.
  • Teams must produce a finished piece with a maximum running time of 5 minutes. In fact, teams will be given only 1 one hour cassette for recording.
  • Equipment will be provided by CCTV as well as a “Production Marathon Survival Kit,” including subway tokens, snacks, water, and CCTV shirts. Please feel free to use any resources or connections of your own to make your team’s production a success.
  • CCTV staff will be present at the station to facilitate all aspects of the Marathon, including creative consultation, technical advice, troubleshooting, mediation, and moral support when the going gets tough.

If you would like to be a part of this fun day, please call us and register. It’s free! We are building teams of producers with an even distribution of camera, edit, and on screen talent skills to help production go smoothly, so whether you are an individual or a group you can sign up and expect to have a lot of fun.
