Welcome to the Membership, Outreach and Advocacy Group!
The responses to the open ended questions on the survey yielded some great stuff! I've compiled and categorized in the docs linked to here.
Dear Committee members,
Please see the attached Word Document. I've attempted to bring together all three sections of the report into one cohesive version. Most significantly, I've inserted Eli's User-Generated Content and News & Info sections into Julie and Rob's sections. I've also used a majority of Eli's conclusion section as a basis for the end of the report.
I will bring this version of the report to the Board meeting this evening, as a basis for discussion - NOT as a final version. Please blog (or email me) your comments and we will work to wrap up this report, asap.
I hope we can also find a time to meet next in December to discuss potential steps forward for our committee's work in 2008 based on the outcome of this report.
Thanks again!
Colin
Thanks to the committee members for all your work on the report! I am putting together each section (that you've uploaded here) into a final draft and tweaking the formatting. I hope to have something for your review within the next few days.
I'm also hoping we can present a final version to the staff and board early next week.
Thanks again,
Colin

The Membership, Advocacy, and Outreach Committee at CCTV welcomes your constructive feedback on the following:
* How to expand our membership community.
* How to get the most out of your membership.
* How to increase class registration.
* How to increase participation in this website.
Please post your comments here. We will then present your views to the staff and board in mid-January and report back to you on this blog.
Thank you for your participation.
MAO Committee
(From 10/17/06 email)
Hi everyone,
Hopefully all of you received the email invitation to use the MAO Committee Group at the CCTV website. Last night we discussed using the site as a private online workspace to be used during the month in-between meetings. Please email me if you have any questions about using it.
Here is the link to the group: http://www.cctvcambridge.org/node/577
Here's a quick recap of some of the things we discussed last night:
1. Member issues - Colin will send an email to resolve the last of the member issues (please email me if you'd like to learn more about this issue).
2. Staff transition - We talked about how Jennifer and David are leaving CCTV (the two main staff members on the MAO Committee).
3. Videoblogging Event - We talked about having an videoblogging "show & tell" event in February. More information can be found on the MAO Committee Group: http://www.cctvcambridge.org/node/577
* Chrisann will contact her former co-worker about possible participation in February event and research local foreign language blogs/vlogs.
* Maggie will contact CCTV staff to learn what kinds of outreach efforts are in the works for this year.
* Colin will meet with Boston Media Makers to ask for their participation in the event.
Please let me know if I left anything out!
Sorry, for the very quick notes but hopefully you'll visit the MAO Committee Group to see more notes about the event from our meeting last night.
We'll plan to meet next tentatively on Monday, November 13 at 6 - 7 PM at CCTV.
Thanks!
Colin
Notes from October MAO Committee meeting (10/16/06):
* We discussed having a public "show & tell" videoblogging event sometime in February '07.
Purpose: The event would be an opportunity for videobloggers to share their work with CCTV members and Cambridge residents.
* Invite local businesses (including restaurants)
* Foreign language blogs/vlogs
* Use the event as an opportunity to raise awareness about videoblogging. Videoblogging can help producers share stories and voices from their community with the world.
* We talked about how videoblogging at public access center using community media tools is different from YouTube.
* Use the event (and future related events) to coincide with other broader outreach efforts by CCTV to reach out to racial, ethnic, or gender specific communities in Cambridge. Talk with CCTV staff/board to coordinate these events with any year-long outreach plans that may be in the works.
